Make dated special effects look even worse, hurrah!

Come with me if you want to puke.

James Cameron, apparently high from sniffing $100 bills, thinks that 3D is the wave of the future. Is this 1952? Maybe more aptly, didn’t he learn anything from the virtual reality debacle of the 90s?

Maybe I’m playing the part of the crotchety old fart, here, but I prefer my films 2D. I’ve always been a little dubious about 3D, from way back in the Captain EO days, and watching 3D for extend periods makes me queasy. Surely I’m not the only person who feels this way. This whole thing just feels a bit gimmicky and doomed to failure to me.

Does James Cameron need to sniff anything to get high? I was under the impression he already was sort of…perpetually NOT WITH IT.

I think that there is room for 3D, especially the way that they are doing it nowadays. I have really enjoyed the 3D as of late, starting with Coraline. The gimmicky “I’m gonna poke your eye out” 3D is mostly gone and now we are simply getting depth.

Now, do I think everything needs to be done in 3D? Hell no!

I don’t have a problem with 3D as a general concept, I just think Cameron is crazy for implying that everything will be 3D in the near future, to the point that he’s selling 3D television sets.
